Dr. Maryam Taleghani

Dr. Maryam Taleghani is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada with a specialist designation in Oral Medicine and Diplomate of American Board of Oral Medicine. She completed an undergraduate Bachelor’s of Biology degree at the University of California Irvine and then pursued a dental degree at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston. Following this she completed a one year General Practice Residency at University of Alberta Hospital. After years of practice as a general dentist, she proceeded with a 4-year specialist training in Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology at the University of British Columbia.

Besides practicing in a private oral medicine clinic, she has maintained a position as a lecturer, clinical assistant professor and consultant oral medicine specialist in the faculty of dentistry of the University of British Columbia. She is also a consulting staff at Lions Gate Hospital.

Dr. Taleghani is a patient advocate and providing exceptional patient care is her number one goal in practicing oral medicine. In recognition of her contributions to the education of UBC dentistry, she was given a number of teaching awards.

Dr. Taleghani actively participates in the annual academy and association meetings below to advance the knowledge on scientific foundations to help further diagnose and treat the patients living with pain or with other dysfunctions in the mouth and jaw areas. She constantly interchanges practical knowledge, and scientific advances with her colleagues around the world in the field of oral medicine and orofacial pain. She also contributes her unique knowledge of clinical applications and academics by providing educational lectures and seminars for dentists, dental students and post-graduate oral medicine and oral pathology students, dental related study clubs and conferences.
